Dogs:
Show, Field and Hunt.
A keen terrier/dog enthusiast for show, hunt and field for
40+ years, an ( IKC ) Irish Kennel Club life member under
the prifix of (Buckingham) and (Brocstock).
Ray
is no stranger to the dog world coming from a long history
of family founding members of different terrier breeds within
in Ireland, (Peter Delaney) Founder member of The Irish
Terrier Club and (William Delaney) Founder member of The
Staffordshire Buill Terrier Club, also one of the top breeders
of Staffordshire Bull Terrier, in show, field, hunt including
badger dog trials, producing more game certified badger
dogs than any other enthusiast within the British Isles.
Ray himself has bred and shown, Wire Fox Terriers, Staffordshire
Bull Terriers etc...and fortunate enough to have spent quite
a few years in the north of England, In the small towns
of Nelson and Clone and Oswaldtwistle where he was heavely
involved in whippet racing, coursing, lamping, earth dogs
etc... really enjoying working with the many hunt terriers
and hounds, Jack Russells, Patterdales, Fells, Lurchers
etc... not forgetting the many new terrier friends and their
excellent hospitality, Ray also have quite a few Staffordshire
Bull Terrier friends, both in the north and south of Ireland,
great people!, with great dogs.
In the past has imported a few show quility red Staffordshire
Bull Terriers from Northern Ireland and South Africa.
Now
living in the USA 14+ years and looking forward to experiencing
the dog show and hunt scene and the various hunt breeds
in another country, Terriers, Curs, Strike and Catch Dogs,
earth dogs and many of the hunt terriers both in show and
field...
Ray
is a big fan of the working and go to ground terriers, such
as Red Lakies, Fells, Lakelands and the German Hunting Terrier
AKA the Jagdterrier.
Birds:
Ray has always been a keen bird enthusiast of Canaries,
Foreign and European wild caught finch's, Goldfinch, Bullfinch,
Linnets, Redpolls, Siskins etc... also a keen enthusiast
of pigeon racing, having been around pigeon racing from
the age of 5, pigeon racing has been a stronghold in the
Delaney family for many years, having 8 family members both
in Ireland and UK breaking national and international records
with some records never been broken, myself over the years
has bred and raced pigeons in Ireland, England and the USA,
racing at national and international levels. I have studied
the Rock Dove, (Columba livia) in it's natural environment,
the beautiful cliffs of Howth, Co Dublin, with observations
on feeding and general socializing behaviors.
Falconry
and Hawking:
Ray was also a keen Irish licensed Falconer/ Austringer
for 20 + years, owning and flying, (Spars) Sparrowhawks
and Goshawks ... both nest and (wild caught) passage birds
with excellent success and enjoyment all round. Favorite
austringer book, A Hawk for the Bush by Jack Mavrogordato.
